CARRIE BALLARD

JUDY CROWE
I consider myself a contemporary representational impressionist. It`s the way that I see the world and my hope is that others will enjoy looking at God`s creation in a little different way than they have in the past. I began painting seriously after a move to Houston and I began studying with Lindy Daly and also with Dick Turner in 1989. Since then, I`ve been fortunate to take workshops with some of the most talented artists in the country. I`ve also been blessed to have been chosen one of several "Leading Ladies" by American Art Collector Magazine recently as well as being published in International Artist`s Magazine`s "Still Life, How did I paint that?" To find out more about what I`ve been up to, visit my website.

MARY K. FORSHAGEN

Mary K. Forshagen is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America. She grew up in Texas and attended Texas A & M University.

A major turning point in her career came in 1993 at a plein-air painting workshop in Taos, New Mexico.  “I had always painted primarily from life - now I paint primarily ‘en plein air’.  I am stimulated by the challenges of outdoor painting - a quickly changing light source, the scent of wildflowers in the air and even those pesky little bugs that inevitably fly into my wet painting.  All of these factors contribute to the emotional feel in a painting. There is a unique relationship between the artist and nature that I love. “

Mary K. enjoys painting landscapes, still lifes and figures. She is a member of Alla Prima International and travels extensively with them or on her own, in search of new ideas and inspirations.  Whether at home in Colorado or Texas, she can most often be found outside painting.  “I hope to share my unique view of the world and its’ beauty with all who see my work."

BERNICE KEOWN
I could never put on paper the excitement and Love that I feel while painting God’s creations. I am my happiest while spending time with my family first, then when I have a chance to load up my gear and set up somewhere outdoors and just let myself go creatively. Ramon Froman taught me from the very beginning, how important it is to capture the essence of your subject matter “in the moment” alive! I took that advice with me for the remainder of my life. In fact, while living in Southern California, I spent most of my free moments at the cliff’s edge in Laguna Beach, California. To be able to watch the surf whip around and crash on the jagged rocks of the ocean’s edge can only be topped by painting that image and creating a living work of art. Now, I spend any spare moments that I get painting Texas Bluebonnets, Lily Ponds or most excitedly portraits. I have dedicated over 50 years to learning as much as I possibly can from some of the most talented artists in the country and took full advantage of the southern California talents while living there. The most important thing that I have learned is that you can learn something from every artist whether they are teaching or just one of the students.
